New Horizons offers in-shelter and community services for adults in Middlesex County. The role of the Adult Advocate is not to tell the victim/survior what to do, but to educate them about the different types of abuse and the impact on their children. Advocates speak to the victim/survivor and assesses their needs and reviews option with the person. Advocates will refer clients to other community agencies if needed.In shelter, advocates will assist clients with various tasks including but not limited to: financial planning, housing application assistance, court advocacy and introducing them to community resources.Our community educator also takes on community clients, providing them with case management similar to those of clients in shelter. Induvidual domestic violence counseling is also available, this is not to take the place of conventional therapy.
